This premium forest walk is only allowed in company of a certified guide. Come to appreciate the forest conservation efforts of the Maeda Ippoen Foundation as you enjoy the wonders of the forest and its plants and animals. Highlights include the roots of Lake Akan Onsen and massive Japanese Judas trees.

Only 10 people a day can take this enchanting tour with a certified guide. The hike follows a chalk stream (gentle river) as it passes through liverwort-rich primeval forest. Encounters with flora and fauna, including massive Mongolian oaks, are truly moving.
Please note that the afternoon session (13:00 departure) is only available on Fridays.

A lengthwise course for experts. Starting at the trailhead is continuing forest. As you near the 7th stage, Akan-Fuji appears before your eyes. From Akan-Fuji, you aspire to Lake Akan and Mt. Oakan. Depending on the season, you may encounter alpine plants such as the mountain harebell. An experienced guide will accompany you on Mt. Meakan.

Enveloped by the crisp air and the dynamic winter landscape painted by the frozen lake, revel in a splendid morning in Akan. Please note that this tour does not focus on observing frost flowers, and we appreciate your understanding in this regard. In most years, frost flowers are rarely visible in March. Additionally, it's not uncommon for temperatures to drop below -20°C, so we recommend dressing warmly when you join us.
